Nuts & volts of Shahadra Bridge stolen

NOIDA: Noida Authority has filed a complaint against unknown persons for stealing nuts and volts of steel girder of Shahadra Bridge that connects Noida to Delhi. Partial traffic restrictions have also been enforced on Noida-Delhi side of the bridge from Sunday.
The repairing and expansion work of Shahadra bridge was completed and it was opened for public on March 17. The bridge is located between the DLF Mall and Garden Galleria Mall.
S C Mishra, project engineer, Noida Authority, said that an official had visited the bridge in an inspection and found that several nuts and volts were missing. "This is a serious issue. We enforced restriction on two lanes on Noida-Delhi side of the bridge. We have asked the officials to fix the issue. We have also filed a complaint in Sector 20 police station against the suspects," he said. The officials said that stolen items would be worth around Rs 1.50 lakh.
Anil Kumar Shahi, SHO Sector 20 police station, said that an FIR has been registered in this regard. "We are investigating the matter. We suspect role of some local people living in adjacent shantis behind this theft. We will arrest the accused soon," he said.
