A 32-year-old man allegedly stabbed his ex-wife after an argument, before jumping to his death from the balcony of the fourth-floor house where she lived. According to police, the incident took place in Rohini during the early hours of Sunday.

Police said the man, identified as Jitender Singh, had gone to his wife’s house to see his daughter. He and his wife had divorced a month ago. They were married for five years.

Police said Singh asked his wife, Heena, to accompany him to the balcony so he could talk to her. However, the conversation took a violent turn and he stabbed her several times with a kitchen knife. She shouted for help and her family members, who were inside the house at the time, rushed to her aid, police said. Some locals also heard the commotion and tried to make their way inside the house.

However, Singh jumped from the balcony and landed on a white Swift car passing below. “He died on the spot. His wife was bleeding due to the stab wounds and was taken to BSA Hospital. She is critical,” a police officer. A case has been registered at KN Katju Marg police station and Singh’s body has been sent for post-mortem.

According to DCP (Rohini) Rishi Pal, the incident took place at 12.30 am. Police received a call from one of the residents in the colony, who saw Singh falling on the car and then on to the road.
