The matches were played under an overcast sky, but were spared a downpour.
A few spells of rain occurred in the metropolis and adjoining areas till the afternoon, after which the skies relented.
The Met department has forecast moderate to heavy rain in isolated places of Gangetic West Bengal till Tuesday morning owing to the formation of a low pressure in north Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood.
"A cyclonic circulation that formed in the area has intensified into a low pressure and is likely to persist till tomorrow," Regional Met director G K Das said.
"Owing to the low pressure, there is possibility of a few spells of moderate rain in Kolkata till tomorrow," Das said adding that heavy rain is likely in some pockets of Gangetic West Bengal.
The sky will remain cloudy and day temperature is likely to hover around 30 degree Celsius.
The first two matches of Group F of the FIFA U-17 World Cup were held at Salt Lake stadium this evening.
While England took on their Latin American rivals Chile, Iraq played against Mexico in the other match.
