Three arrested for sexually harassing girl, assaulting victim and her mother

A teenager and her mother were beaten up and sexually harassed by three youths in colony number 4 after the girl objected to the accused. Police arrested the accused on Sunday. The mother-daughter duo were admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32 but they were discharged after the treatment. According to the information, accused Rahul and his friend Macchar used to harass a teenager who resides in colony number 4 with her mother and on Sunday the accused along with his friend came to her home and started sexually harassing her. The girl objected to it and her mother also intervened but Rahul beat the mother-daughter duo.

Speaking to Chandigarh Newsline, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Industrial Area police station, Inspector Davinder Singh, said that they arrested Rahul and Macchar and one of their accomplices. He added that the victim and her mother were discharged from the hospital after the treatment.
The SHO added that they had registered a case against the accused under sections 323 (assault), 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (offenses committed with the furtherance of common interest) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
