CM Chandrababu Naidu sets 4 lakh toilets per month target to achieve 'Open Defecation Free' tag

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who already announced that he would declare AP as an Open Defecation Free (ODF) State by March 31 2018, gave fresh targets to officials with regard to the construction of individual sanitary toilets.He said that programmes being taken up by the State with regard to Swachhta hi Seva should enter the Guinness Book of World Records.As the State government is yet to construct 22 lakh toilets, Naidu directed the officials to complete the construction of at least 4 lakh toilets per month.

He said that 95,704 toilets should be completed in every week to reach the target.Addressing the officials through teleconference on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that three districts - West Godavari, Krishna and Nellore - had already been declared as ODF.

Three more districts-Prakasam, Chittoor and Anantapur-will get ODF tag in another two months.Stating that he will take up the responsibility to mobilise funds for taking up the works towards declaring the State ODF, he wanted officials to take the task of completing the works on war footing.Making it clear that the government will go harsh against corruption, he said all the works should be done without any compromise on quality.
