Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in his hometown Vadnagar on Sunday. After launching several projects here, he expressed his happiness to be among his own people. In his warm speech, PM gave all credit to the people and the Vadnagar soil for what he is today. He said, “You have showered me with your love. I’m really touched. I am what I am today because of the values in this soil.” PM inaugurated several projects related to the health sector among which, he also launched an immunization program called Intensified Mission Indradhanush. The programme under which the areas and districts with the highest number of under or partially vaccinated children will be in high focus, reported the Indian Express.

PM also targetted the previous government and said that they had no interest in bringing about changes in the healthcare programmes. “It was during former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee’s term that healthcare programmes were introduced and after 10 years we have started again,” PM said. The Prime Minister also distributed e-tablets to health workers to mark the launch of ImTeCHO. ImTeCHO is an innovative mobile phone application to improve the performance of ASHAs through better supervision, support and motivation for increasing coverage of proven maternal, newborn and child health interventions in resource-poor settings in India.

Underlining the efforts by his government on the health sector, PM said, “Work is constantly being done to make healthcare affordable for the poor.” He added that the government has brought prices of stents down. Further, he also emphasised on cleanliness and said to people that doctors and good food may or may not guarantee good health, but cleanliness does.

PM arrived in Gujarat on his two-day visit to the state. He arrived in the state on Saturday and today started the second leg of his tour. He began his trip from his hometown Vadnagar which was all geared up for his welcome. He will also address a public meeting in Bharuch before returning to Delhi.
