BHUBANESWAR: Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch on Saturday arrested a woman on charges of land fraud. The woman has been identified as Rojalin Mallick of Dhusuri in Bhadrak district. The EOW had earlier arrested Rosalin’s husband, Chinmay Mallick, on June 22 in connection with the same case.Sources said one Bidhu Bhusan Mohanty of Cuttack had lodged a complaint with the EOW alleging that Surya Nirman Resources Private Ltd’s Managing Director (MD) Chinmay and other directors had cheated him and other investors on the pretext of providing them lands at Chandaka, but they neither executed the deal nor refunded their money.

In 2011 and 2012, Chinmay and his wife, who is one of the directors of the firm, swindled about `two crore by duping several gullible investors on the pretext of providing them land in Chandaka.
The directors of the company also executed the sale deeds of the land in favour of the investors without having any rights on those properties. The company then issued money receipts, agreements, and other documents to the investors.

The EOW had registered a case on May 29 against the firm under Sections-467, 468, 471, 420, 406 and 120-B of IPC and r/w Section 6 of the Odisha Protection of Interests of Depositors (In Financial Establishments) Act, 2011. Rojalin was produced at OPID court in Cuttack on Saturday.
