Margao: The Goa State Sewerage Development Corporation (GSSDC) on Sunday commenced releasing sewerage line connections for Fatorda constituency. Fatorda MLA and minister for town and country planning (TCP), Vijai Sardesai, launched the facility in the presence of councillors of the Margao Municipal Council and other dignitaries at a function held at Vidyanagar, Margao.

Sardesai urged the people to take sewerage connections that would connect their houses to the underground sewerage network. The cost of the project that includes laying of the underground sewerage network lines through trenchless technology and construction of 20 MLD sewerage treatment plant (STP) is Rs 247 crores.

Sardesai said that the sewerage connections have been provided to the people at subsidized rates. While the cost of connection is Rs 5,000 for individual houses, flats in multiple housing units would be charged at Rs 3,000 per unit, it was informed.

Sardesai urged those who cannot afford the rates to contact his organisation, 'We for Fatorda' for assistance in availing the facility.
