Students in Uttar Pradesh will be getting a big boost as far as education is concerned, courtesy CM Yogi Adityanath led government and no, the wait will not be endless. It has been revealed that nearly 5,000 state government-run English medium primary schools will soon be operational in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Minister of state for basic education, Anupama Jaiswal, on Saturday claimed that these new schools are likely to become functional from the next academic session. As per the report by the Hindustan Times, in the view of increasing demand for English medium schools, the state government has decided to convert the existing primary schools into English medium institutions. “Parents are queuing up for English medium schools. So, we thought why not have government-run English medium schools to cater to the demand,” Jaiswal was quoted by HT as saying.
Sarvendra Vikram Bahadur Singh, director, basic education said that instead of establishing new schools, the government decided to convert the existing primary schools into English medium institutions. Following which the teachers will be given thorough training and provided with English books. Jaiswal further added that the efforts will be made to ensure that teachers teach proper English to students and help them pronounce words correctly.
Another official was quoted as saying that the previous government of Samajwadi Party (SP) had set up two such schools in every district of the state, two years back. The response of these schools was overwhelming. It also resulted in the high attendance of students and therefore this pushed the current state government to plan more such schools. “The attendance of students went up in a big way. This led the (present) state government to plan more such schools,” an official was quoted by HT as saying.
