With increase in number of passengers between two countries, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to operate another flight to India in coming days. The airline was earlier operating one flight every week from Lahore, PTI said. “We have decided to operate another flight from Lahore to New Delhi from this month as passenger volume has increased a little,” PIA spokesman Mashood Tajwar was quoted as saying by the agency.
“The second weekly flight (Saturday) for India has been restored after a meeting of the PIA officials. We will operate ATR plane for the second flight as well,” Tajwar told the agency further.
However, when asked whether there is any chance to restore Karachi-Mumbai flight operation, Tajwar said there was no plan as of now. PIA had earlier suspended Karachi to Mumbai weekly flight and also cut one Lahore to Delhi flight, citing low passenger volume as the reason behind the step.
“There will be no PIA flight between Karachi to Mumbai and Mumbai to Karachi from April 8. The PIA has stopped booking for flights on this route,” Indian Express had quoted an official as saying.
He had said that the Karachi-Mumbai flight, which was operating twice in a week saw extremely low traffic on the route. “Since we have been bearing financial loss on this route for the last six months or so we have arrived at a decision to suspend this route,” he was further quoted as saying by Indian Express.
