The Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata is one of the venues for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Other than the group matches the stadium, formally known as Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK), will host the finals of the tournament. However, a sculpture that has been set up in front of the main entrance of the stadium is causing a lot of discussion on the social media.

Actually, a gigantic sculpture, resembling Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo’s free-kick stance, has been installed outside the Salt Lake stadium. The image of a half man with a globe in the place of his torso, and two unusual sized footballs sticking to his feet, took people by surprise – and they weren’t quite sure how to feel about this. However, instead of inspiring people, it is horrifying them. When the images of the said sculpture were shared, Twitter went absolutely bonkers.

Conceptualised and designed by none other than the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself, the sculpture was set up on Thursday. Twitterati were quick to react to the photos of the headless sculpture and unsurprisingly most comments were not in praise.
