AJMER: Lobbying for assembly elections, scheduled to be held by the end of next year, has already begun.
While chief minister Vasundhara Raje tried to reach out to different sections of the society during her visit to the Ajmer district, representatives of different communities too did not miss out on the opportunity to seek tickets for someone among them. Most of the representatives insisted that a member from their community be given a chance to contest in the 2018 Assembly polls. That apart, they also made demands of caste-specifics, hostels, rest-houses and other facilities.
Meeting with leaders of the communities continued on the third and last day of Raje's visit to Ajmer. "Ajmer north is unofficially declared as Sindhi reserve seat but number of Vaish community are more and therefore we demanded that BJP should change such tradition" said Kalicharan Khandelwal, a president of National Khandelwal association, who was part of the meeting.
During the meeting with the Brahmins, the participants raised an objection to the present of a person belonging to Jangid community. "Jangid belongs to other backward caste and therefore we objected and he was directed to leave," said Narender Sharma, who attened the meeting. He said that the representatives demanded for more jobs and scholarships for Brahmin community.
Ramchandra Choudhary, chairman of Ajmer dairy also met Raje and demanded ticket claiming that he is working as a chairman since 36 years and involved with the farmer of every caste and therefore he is the right local candidate for upcoming by elections. Choudhary was in congress before but when he was denied ticket in last state assembly elections, he joined BJP.
Meanwhile congress opposed BJP for dividing Ajmer on the basis of caste and community. Congress district president Vijay Jain said that in last three days chief minister had not discussed development and management but only discussed matters related caste and community.
But sources said that Raje was following the party's Uttar Pradesh model, which was implemented during the assembly elections there.
Meanwhile, Raje also heard the problems related to roads and drinking water. The major problem that came into the notice of Chief Minister was drinking water and therefore Raje announced 24 hours water supply system and also announce the budget of Rs 79 crore.
