GUWAHATI: Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations said that GST has helped in improving the efficiency and cutting down logistics cost.

Sawhney who was in Guwahati on Saturday said, “GST has not impacted the growth of automobile. GST is helping getting rid of inefficiencies. Automobile industry in pre GST regime had to pay 14 different taxes. This has come down.”

He added, “GST has a good impact on the industry and in long-term the results will be positive.”

Renault’s has 11 sales and 8 after sales outlets in Assam. Sawhney added, “We are selling over one lakh cars in Indian annually. In Eastern India alone our outlets has increased hugely and by December this year we will have 72 outlets.”

Sawhney informed that Renault will launch a new car this month. “We are growing at the rate of 16 percent in Eastern India and we are hopeful that we will maintain the growth”.

The CEO added, “India is an important market for Renault’s global growth plans and we have a thorough business strategy to grow our presence across the country. This is reflected by our strong product enhancement strategy, our rapid network expansion and fervent efforts to ensure customer delight. Given the diversity of the Indian landscape and customer demographics, the efforts towards expanding our network are invested tactically to cater to our customers in metro cities as well as tier II-III cities across the country. With this, we have a clear vision of taking the Renault brand to new and emerging markets as we aspire to be amongst the top 5 automotive brands in the country by 2020.”
