MCOCA court rejects bail plea of man arrested for murder of cable operator

THANE: The special Maharashtra Control Of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court has rejected the bail application of an accused arrested for murder of Sacchanand Karira, a cable operator from Ulhasnagar, who was shot dead in September 2015.
Two months after the incident, police had nabbed a gang of five, including one Prashant Sakpal, who reportedly belonged to the Ravi Pujari gang. Sakpal, who claims to have been picked up from Sangli, had moved the bail plea after two years in prison. The prosecution said that Karira was killed as he did not pay Rs 10 lakh demanded by Pujari. The counsel contested the charge andclaimed said that Sakpal had no role to play in the incident as he was not at the crime spot.
A S Bhaisare, MCOCA judge said that the accused failed to prove that he was innocent and rejected the bail application.
