The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has published the list of probable candidates for the post of melsanti at the Ayyappa temple and Malikappuram temple at Sabarimala.
A press note issued here said the final selection would be made through draw-of-lots in front of the respective temples on October 17.
Of the 82 applications received for the post of melsanti at Sabarimala, 18 were rejected. Eleven of the rejected applicants went in appeal and of these, three were considered for the interview.
Of the 51 applicants for the melsanti at the Malikappuram temple, eight were rejected. Of these five persons went in appeal and one was considered for the interview.
For the Sabarimala melsanti interview, 65 of the 67 persons invited attended.
For the Malikappuram temple, 42 of the 44 persons invited attended the interview. From among these persons the list of those who secured 60% marks or above were published. While there are 14 persons in the list of candidates for the Sabarimala melsanti, there are 12 candidates in the list for the Malikappuram temple.
The interview was held at the Thiruvananthapuram office of the TDB on October 5 and 6, the release said.
