BJP, TDP assail KCR’s tirade

The Opposition parties on Saturday strongly criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s tirade against them on Friday.

The Congress said the Chief Minister’s outburst only reflected his growing abusive culture, intolerance and deceiving mentality of which the people of Telangana would give a fitting reply soon.

At a press conference, senior leaders including CLP leader K. Jana Reddy, TPCC working president, Bhatti Vikramarka and Deputy Leader in Council P. Sudhakar Reddy sought an apology from the Chief Minister for abusing national leaders like Indira Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi and the TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Mr. Jana Reddy said he was pained at the allegations made against Indira Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi and also against him over Telangana issue. The language used doesn’t behove the Chief Minister of a State.

He said the language used against Sonia Gandhi was highly objectionable and it only reflects his cunning mentality of praising people when in need and abusing them later. Mr. Reddy rejected CM’s accusation that he had used Telangana for positions. He reminded that Kodandaram was named JAC Chairman by both KCR and himself after discussions but if KCR says he has created Kodandaram it only reflects his arrogance. He said he was surprised by CM’s behaviour at the press conference on Friday and said he sounded like a frustrated man.

Majority in Singareni

Mr. Vikramarka said the arrogance levels of the CM have reached peak and his attack on Mr. Jana Reddy with abusive language only reflects that. He said the TRS got a majority of just 4,000 votes in Singareni and that too with the abuse of power, money and allurement. He said the CM should apologise to Mr. Jana Reddy for terming him a thief.

TDP hits back

Meanwhile, provoked by KCR’s remark that the TDP is no more visible in Telangana, party leader Revanth Reddy went to the extent of showering praises on Congress president Sonia Gandhi while lashing out at the Chief Minister.

Mr. Revanth Reddy said the Chief Minister had no moral right to criticise a person like TJAC chairman M. Kodandaram by having Telangana betrayers like Tummala Nageswara Rao and Talasani Srinivas Yadav by his side.

Referring to Mr. Rao’s criticism of Kodandaram as to why the latter had not campaigned for martyr Srikantha Chary’s mother in 2014 elections, the TDP leader sought to know “if that is the case, why didn't he (KCR) visit Srikantha Chary’s family to console them.”

The TDP leader also suggested the ruling TRS to field Srikantha Chary’s mother for Nalgonda parliamentary seat by-election, whenever it is necessitated, if it is sincere about respecting and recognising the martyrs. Mr. Reddy said he would take up the responsibility of convincing all other party leaders to ensure the election of the martyr's mother unopposed.

BJP finds fault with KCR

The Bharatiya Janata Party contested KCR’s assertion of being solely responsible for the formation of Telangana. Party floor leader G. Kishan Reddy told the media on Saturday that State was formed due to the sacrifices made by 1,200 youth, and agitations taken up by the employees, students and other sections of the society, and certainly not due to Mr. Rao alone.

The BJP leader wanted to know how many of his Cabinet colleagues sitting beside him in Pragati Bhavan participated in Telangana agitation. “Was your ally - Majlis, part of the struggle,” he asked.
