Vasco: A 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped at Arpora by a self-styled godman from Kundapur in Karnataka. In her complaint to Vasco police on Thursday, the survivor said she was offered a cold drink laced with drugs and then raped by the godman, who went by the name Ravi Shankar.
The survivor, who is from Kolhapur but resides in Vasco, said she was offered a lift by one Santosh Kumbhar from Nipani on August 23 on the pretext of dropping her to Kolhapur. On the way, she was offered cold drink by Kumbhar and then taken to Arpora, where Shankar was present along with one Nikhil alias Bunty Chavan. The survivor said on the direction of Shankar, both Kumbhar and Chavan left the house on the pretext of some work, after which the 'godman' raped her.
Late on Saturday evening, Vasco police arrested Kumbhar and Chavan, while a team has gone to Kundapur to search for Shankar, police inspector Nolasco Raposo said.
