The police are checking the Call Data Records of a 20-year-old law student who was found dead on the railway tracks between Parel and Currey Road stations on Wednesday night.
The call data records of Pallavi Vikamsey, the daughter of Nilesh Vikamsey, president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, are being checked to find out about the last call she made or received. While the suicide angle is being verified, officers said the text message, “no one is responsible”, she sent her sister-in-law has raised suspicions.
Pallavi, who was interning with a law firm in Ballard Pier, left her workplace on Wednesday evening and boarded a train from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) at 6 p.m. to head for her home in Parel. Her body was later found on the tracks and taken to KEM Hospital in Parel. On Thursday, her family identified her body at the hospital. “We are making inquiries with Pallavi’s colleagues to find out about her behaviour at work on Wednesday,” an officer said.
The Dadar Railway Police said that Pallavi’s cell phone has still not been found. A police officer said, “We are searching for the mobile phone on the tracks. It might have fallen at a great distance away from the tracks due to the impact of a train running over her after she fell from the train. Local drug addicts could have also stolen the mobile phone.”
CCTV footage scanned
The police said the statement of an eye-witness who reportedly saw Pallavi fall off the train will be recorded on Saturday. CCTV cameras at CSMT have captured Pallavi boarding a slow train. Her parents registered a missing person’s complaint with MRA Marg police station, under whose jurisdiction her workplace falls. Senior Police Inspector Nitin Bobade said, “Her parents have recorded statements saying not to hold anyone responsible for her death.”
