Somireddy moves into new chambers

Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy moved into new chambers in Block 2 of Secretariat at Velagapudi near here on Friday.

Speaking to reporters, he said the government accorded top priority to the agriculture sector which was why it had been implementing policies that give a boost to it.

Many initiatives, which were never taken by any other State government in the past, had been taken. “It is possible to do wonders if technology is used in agriculture,” he added.

Mr. Chandramohan Reddy said the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation had come forward to extend its cooperation for the sector. It would help in bringing latest technologies, soil testing, and improving the yield. Small and marginal farmers would benefit, he said. The government would enter into a MoU with the Foundation, he said. Earlier, he performed puja in the new chambers as Vedic scholars chanted hymns.

Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya, Nandyal MLA Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy, Penamalur MLA Bode Prasad, Agriculture Commissioner M. Hari Jawaharlal, Acharya N.G. Ranga Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor Damodar Naidu, and Horticulture University Registrar B. Srinvasulu were present.
