NHAI eye camp for truck drivers concludes

BHUBANESWAR: Weak eye sight of truck drivers has been identified as one of the reasons behind frequent road accidents on national highways in the country. In a bid to spread awareness on road safety, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) launched a free eye check-up camp for the truck drivers on October 2.
In Odisha, the programme was conducted by Project Implementation Unit, Bhubaneswar, at Manguli toll plaza on NH-5 under the supervision of Chief General Manager and Regional Officer of NHAI, Odisha, Dharmananda Sarangi.
Bhubaneswar-based LV Prasad Eye Institute was roped in by NHAI, Odisha to provide medical services during the camp. During the five-day programme which concluded on Friday, more than 270 truck drivers was examined. Of them, 180 truck drivers were detected with eye sight problems. The drivers with weak vision were provided free spectacles at the camp by NHAI.Project Director, NHAI Bhubaneswar, Biju Patir appreciated the expert services provided by the eye institute.
