The Vice-Chancellors of Telangana universities have been issued a clear message that the next recruitment of 1,061 posts that the government has sanctioned should be done without any allegations of corruption with only merit as the criterion.
The message was given by Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan at the Vice-Chancellors meeting held on Friday. The government believes in zero corruption and all the services of the varsity should be made online, the Governor told the VCs, according to Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, who briefed media persons later.
Mr. Srihari said a meeting with the V-Cs will be held again after six months with the Action Taken Report on the Governor’s recommendations.
As per the Governor’s suggestions, the academic year from next year would begin in July itself. The Friday’s meeting was attended by Special Chief Secretary Ranjeev Acharya and TSCHE Chairman T. Papi Reddy.
Mr. Srihari suggested to the V-Cs to ensure that the academic calender is implemented without any deviations and also asked the varsities and the affiliated colleges to install CCTVs and biometric facility for monitoring attendance of teachers and students.
He said the government has sanctioned ₹419 crore to varsities this year and they should be spent in time. The committee on recruitments will submit its report in a few days and the recruitment process will be completed within six months. The Minister said serious research should be encouraged and those doing Ph.D without seriousness should be discouraged.
