Virat Kohli called correctly in the first T20 against Australia at Ranchi and decided that India would bowl first. Kohli said the weather was the factor as it had been raining in the lead-up to the match. For India, Axar Patel and Ajinkya Rahane sat out and they were replaced by Kuldeep Yadav and Shikhar Dhawan.

Australia were without their regular captain Steven Smith, who had to fly back home after injuring his shoulder. David Warner stood in for him as captain. The Australians lost the ODI series 4-1.

A confident India will look to extend their domination, while a hapless Australia would aim for a change of fortunes in the three-match T20 series beginning in Ranchi on Saturday.
