Ujjain: A man was chased and murdered by six men near Durga Plaza late on Thursday. The victim Vikas Somshankar Pathak, resident of Rishi Nagar, had gone out for dinner with his friends and cousin Vivek at a restaurant near Madhav club on Thursday where he got into a brawl over the issue of staring at six men, who were also dining at the restaurant.
Vikas was also beaten up with glass bottles at the restaurant. Following the incident, Vikas left for home oblivious that he was being chased and met his destiny near Durga Plaza, Freeganj, where he was shot dead in presence of his brother Vijay Pathak, whom Vikas had called before leaving the restaurant.
Vikas received bullet at his thigh and was taken to hospital where he died during treatment. Meanwhile, Neelganga police captured two offenders, Mangesh Parmar and Hemraj from the murder spot as they were trying to abscond. Later one more was offender, Ajay Gome was arrested while the other three are still on the run. ASP Neeraj Pandey informed that a murder case had been registered and investigation is going on. It was revealed that one of the offenders Mangesh Parmar is a habitual criminal and had murdered Kakku Patel, husband of former BJP corporator, in the past.
