KOCHI: Union Minister of State for Tourism K.J. Alphons has called up on IT companies in Kerala to come up with a product profile to become game changers.
A major portion of work in IT in the State is back-office work for US and European companies. There is not much future in that, he said.
“We have to move to the next level of thinking, next level of intelligence, artificial intelligence, and big data analysis,” he told the media on the sidelines of the All Kerala CBSE Principals’ Conference.
On start-ups, he said they had shown a lot of promise. A lot of good ideas are being generated, he added.
To a query on the BJP’s Jana Raksha Yatra, he quipped that the “we are going to take over [Kerala].”
He said BJP president Amit Shah was not in Pinarayi as he had to attend an important meeting called by the Prime Minister. Responding to the CPI(M) State secretary’s statement that Mr. Shah was like a toothless lion, Mr. Alphons said probably he (party secretary) had not seen a real lion.
