The 30th annual Sandal and Urs of Quadrati Chaman Trust Dargah at Obanapalle in Chittoor commenced on Friday amidst religious fervour.
The annual event, popularly known as Chand Ke Pandra, draws huge crowds from all sections of people in Chittoor division, while the dargah is seen as an epitome of Hindu-Muslim unity. Solemn prayers marked the Chand Ke Pandra festival at the dargah, while hundreds of devotees thronged the venue, participating in the rituals of Gandhotsavam, Urs and Quawali, followed by Annadanam.
Chand Ke Pandra comes in the middle of Muharrum month, signifying the victory of Mohammad Prophet’s grandsons Hazrath Imane Hasain and Hazrath Imane Hussain over evil forces and ushering in of peace and love among mankind.
The dargah was richly decorated with flowers and silk clothes. Mehfile Samakhani (religious discourses) continued from morning till evening. Devotees in large numbers took part in the Gandhotsavam procession.
Dargah chief pontiff Hazrath Pirsyed Alisha Kadri Sabheb in his message said that universal love and peace are the chief tenets of Islam.
