Guha’s tweet bolsters Cantt Metro petition

BENGALURU:Buoyed by historian Ramachandra Guha sharing the petition against moving of Cantonment Metro Station on Twitter, the number of signatories to the petition has drastically increased.

From 3,000 supporters last night, the number crossed the initial target of 15,000 on Friday. The petition, started by Bengaluru resident Rajkumar Dugar, is addressed to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Bengaluru Development Minister K J George and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.

Guha had tweeted a link to the petition around 7.45am on Friday. By 12.15pm, the petition had crossed its target of 15,000 signatures and by 7.15pm, it had almost touched 19,000 supporters.
The petition, on change.org, asks for the Cantonment Metro station to be constructed opposite the Cantonment Railway station, as per BMRCL’s initial plan. According to BMRCL’s changed plan, the station will come up at a BBMP playground at New Bamboo Bazaar.
