
In big relief for AIADMK leader Sasikala, court has granted her parole for 5 days to go an meet her ailing husband.Sasikala’s husband M. Natarajan has a liver problem and is in a Chennai hospital. Deposed AIADMK chief VK Sasikala, who is currently serving her sentence in a Bengaluru prison after her conviction in a disproportionate assets case, has been granted parole toady around noon. She applied for 15-day parole to meet her ailing husband Natarajan. Sasikala will visit Chennai on Friday to meet her husband who underwent surgery on Thursday, according to The Times of India. Sasikala, whose request for parole was earlier rejected by the Bengaluru jail authorities, filled an emergency parole form and attached documents, including a medical certificate of her ailing husband, to make a fresh parole request to the authorities on Thursday.
Sasikala’s lawyer Krishnappan told ANI, “They (Jail authorities) got an e-mail from Chennai police commissioner agreeing for parole with certain conditions.” It is also reported that Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dhinakaran arrived this morning at the Bengaluru Central Prison with a group of supporters to receive her from the prison. However, the parole is granted on certain conditions. As per a report by NDTV, she is not allowed to meet with anyone in Chennai and has to live at the home of her relative. She is not permitted to involve in any political activity and she can’t give any statements to the media.
Sasikala has been serving her term in jail since February this year. Along with Sasikala, her relatives Ilavarasi and VN Sudhakaran are also serving four-year jail terms.
