There’s no stopping Judwaa 2 at the Bollywood box office
David Dhawan's Judwaa 2, starring Varun Dhawan, Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu, has emerged as one of the most successful films of 2017. Even though the film was panned by critics for its dated content, the audience surely didn't pay any heed to those reviews and utilised their long weekend at the theatre reminiscing the good old David Dhawan days. And thanks to the nostalgia factor, the David Dhawan directorial is minting money at the box office.
Judwaa 2 is on the verge of crossing the 100 crore mark. The first week collections of the film stand at Rs 98.08 crore.
During the first weekend, Judwaa 2 was able to earn more than the Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha', and became the fifth highest weekend grosser of 2017.
David Dhawan's Judwaa 2 became the fourth highest opener at the box-office in 2017. The film earned Rs 16.10 crore on Day 1. SRK's 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' was left behind and is now at the fifth spot.
Judwaa 2 released at an advantageous time with the Puja holidays and the extended Gandhi Jayant weekend which certainly helped its box-office collections.
2017 has proved to be a good year for Varun Dhawan. His last release, 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' crossed Rs 200-crore mark worldwide.
Judwaa 2, a remake of Salman Khan's 1997 film Judwaa, is also Varun Dhawan's highest week 1 grosser.
