Chief Secretary S.P. Singh has instructed the departments concerned to ensure that there was no compromise in the quality of works relating to providing required infrastructure in Warangal and Karimnagar that had been selected under the Central Government’s smart cities project.
The Chief Secretary said the two cities were witnessing fast pace of development and the officials concerned should ensure that the detailed project reports of works that needed to be taken up were completed at the earliest for starting them expeditiously.
Review meet
Mr. Singh held a meeting to review the ongoing works with senior officials including Municipal Administration Secretary Navin Mittal on Thursday. He was informed by the officials that work with an estimated ₹2,861 crore had been launched in Warangal. Of these, five works involving ₹297 crore were in tendering stage and another 12 works estimated to cost ₹1,249 crore were under process. The department was firm on calling tenders before the end of December and commence work thereafter.
It was resolved to commence 47 works estimated to cost ₹1,194 crore in 2018. These works included sewerage treatment plant, musical gardens, development of Bhadrakali and Thousand pillar temple in addition to providing necessary infrastructure required under the smart cities project. The department was also preparing reports on works worth ₹1,878 crore for Karimnagar city covering water supply, sewerage systems, Manair riverfront development and development of roads, said an official release.
