Ujjain: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who visited the city, paid his respects to Maharishi Valmiki at Shree Valmikidham Siddhapeeth temple on the saint’s birth anniversary. He also offered flowers at the ‘samadhi’ of Saint Sohandasji Maharaj, following which he held a meeting with the founder of Valmikidham, Saint Umeshnath Maharaj at his ashram and received his blessings.
While addressing the event, Chouhan said that it was Valmiki who with his epic Ramayana had immortalized Lord Rama forever in the minds of crores of Hindus. The common people got an insight into the character of Rama only through the eyes of Valmiki who would always be remembered for his contribution to Indian culture and history, he stated.
The Chief Minister also attended a function held by Damodarvanshiya Gujarati Darji community, in memory of their guru Shree Tekchand Maharaj at village Kadchha. He also addressed the community members and urged that Damodar-samaj to follow the latest trends in tailoring and adapt with changing times in order to remain in business. He added that Kadchhadham would be developed as tourist spot and gave his consent for road construction from Tajpur chaupati to Kadchhadham.
Energy minister Paras Jain, Member of Parliament Chintamani Malviya, MLAs Mohan Yadav, Anil Firoziya and Satish Malviya, mayor Meena Jonwal, UDA chairman Jagdish Agrawal and others were present with the CM.
CM to revisit city today
CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan will visit the city on Friday. He will attend local events and then leave for Indore. He will arrive at 12:45 pm at Datana-Matana airstrip and leave for Indore at 5:30 by the state plane.
