Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court on Friday asked the government to explain the reasons for delay in uploading the new jail manual on the website as per its direction on August 8. The division bench of Justice M Rafique and K C Sharma was hearing the suo motu petition on jail reforms. It asked the steps taken to fill the vacancies of non-official visitors whose current term is set to expire on October 22.
Non-official visitors are representatives of NGOs and other non-governmental bodies selected to visit the jails to ascertain the condition of inmates. Jail authorities have to reply to these issues through an affidavit by October 11. tnn
