HYDERABAD: Chilling facts have been revealed in a court document pertaining to the killing of an Indian doctor in the US on September 13.
Psychiatrist Achutha N Reddy, who hailed from Nalgonda in Telangana, and settled in Wichita, Kansas, US, suffered as many as 165 'sharp force trauma injuries'. He was allegedly stabbed by one Umar R Dutt, who was also his patient at the Holistic Psychiatric Services clinic, Wichita.
The autopsy of the body of Reddy was conducted by the Sedgwick County Kansas Regional Forensic Centre. Dr Oberst, who conducted the autopsy, reported that she noted approximately 165 sharp forced trauma injuries.
In the document submitted to the court, Addie L Perkins, detective with the Wichita Police Department said that she was assigned to follow up the investigation.
A person who has been referred to as 'MR' in the court document was spoken to about the incident. MR said Umar Dutt had arrived at the business (clinic) prior to Reddy. MR said that around 7.05pm, she heard Achutha calling for help from his office.
MR went into Achutha's office where she observed Uma Dutt stabbing Achutha multiple times. MR was also able to separate Dutt from Achutha briefly and Achutha ran out to the back of the business and followed by Dutt.
At the Wichita Country Club, where Dutt was later taken into custody, scene investigator Christopher Engle-Tjaden noticed that there was a baseball bat in the back seat of the vehicle in which Dutt was seated. Detective Michelle Tennyson also observed 'what appears to be blood' at some places on the vehicle.
When he arrived at the Wichita Country Club after the stabbing incident, Dutt had told a security personnel that he had been beaten up. When the security personnel Larry asked him if he had any weapons, he responded, "I took the knife from them".
What took place on that day was explained to detective Mathew Balthozor by another person who was referred to as 'BLT' in the court document.
BLT said she worked as a therapist at Holistic Pyschiatrist Services clinic that was run by Dr Achutha N Reddy. She said on September 13, around 5.45 pm, she had observed a patient of Dr Reddy's by the first name of Umar in the front lobby. BLT told Dr Reddy that Umar was in the lobby but the doctor had indicated that Umar was not scheduled for an appointment. BLT said she knew that Umar was an 'ongoing' patient of Dr Reddy.
She said when she left the clinic around 5.55 pm, she observed Umar on the back side of the clinic standing behind Dr Reddy's vehicle. She, however, did not have any conversation with him. From a latest photograph shown to her by the police, she recognised him to be Umar, as the one she saw and who was known to be a patient of Dr Reddy's.
