MADURAI: The controversy surrounding film star Dhanush’s parentage took a new turn on Thursday, with a man who claims to be his biological father, submitting a police complaint alleging the actor had filed fake papers in court to counter his paternity suit. In the complaint he lodged at the K Pudur police station here, R Kathiresan said, the birth certificate, Aadhaar card and school Transfer Certificate (TC) Dhanush produced before the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court during the legal battle to establish paternity were fake.
The birth certificate submitted by the national award-winning actor recorded his parents as Krishnamoorthy and Vijayalakshmi and the place of birth as Government Women and Children’s hospital, Egmore. But there was no parallel entry on the hospital records on the date specified, Kathiresan’s advocate S Titus claimed.
Also, the birth certificate had no registration number; and the Chennai Corporation’s online portal had no record to establish the birth on the said date, he alleged. It all began in Nov last year, when Kathiresan (66) and his wife Meenakshi (54), hailing from Malampatti in Melur taluk here, approached the Melur Judicial Magistrate Court, claiming they were the biological parents of Dhanush.
Roots of tale
Kathiresan and his wife Meenakshi, who have claimed to be Dhanush’s parents, had earlier said that they were finding it difficult to make ends meet and sought a monthly assistance of C65,000 from the award-winning actor.
