Candles held high for the off-duty police officer killed in Sunday's mass shooting. Thousands gathered to pay tribute to Charleston Hartfield. The 11-year Las Vegas police veteran and member of the Nevada National Guard was attending the concert with his wife when gunman Stephen Paddock unleashed his terror. Hartfield was hit with a bullet and killed as he helped others to safety. The 34-year-old father of two remembered as an American hero and a true public servant. SOUNDBITE: UNIDENTIFIED OFFICER, SAYING: "You should be extremely proud of him and judging by this turnout, I can tell this community was extremely proud of him too." 58 white crosses now line the Las Vegas Strip for all the concert goers who lost their lives. Investigators still trying to figure out what led Paddock to open fire on the country music festival. The 64-year-old retiree, who was an avid gambler, may have targeted other potential sites for an attack. He reportedly booked a hotel room in Chicago overlooking the Lollapalooza festival and researched locations around Boston's Fenway Park. SOUNDBITE: RANDY SUTTON, RETIRED VETERAN OF THE LAS VEGAS POLICE, SAYING: "Until they actually completely complete this investigation we're not going to know what was on his mind." The massacre prompting the NRA, some Republicans and President Trump to consider banning bump stocks, the piece of equipment Paddock used to make his semi-automatic rifle shoot like a fully automatic machine gun.
