FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017: Sports stars, celebrities, politicians wish India luck

As the Indian team prepares to take on the USA colts in their FIFA U-17 World Cup opener, wishes poured from across the country to motivate the Indian colts.

India is all set for historic FIFA World Cup debut as they prepare to take on USA in their FIFA U-17 World Cup opener at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Friday. Senior team captain Sunil Chhettri has been motivating the Indian colts ahead of the tournament.

While the entire nation waits to witness the historic moment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with more than 50,000 people will present on the opening day when the Indian colts will be in action.

Several players from different sports congratulated the Amarjit Singh-led side and wished them luck for their match. Former cricketer Virender Sehwag, who is active on social media, took to Twitter and wrote, “Best wishes to @IndianFootball for organising & participating in #FIFAU17WC for the first time. May u give your best on & off-field@FIFAcom”

India’s participation in the U-17 World Cup is expected to bring a change in the condition of the sport in the country and Ayaz Memon tweeted where the Indian sportswriter wrote, “Could dramatically change future of Indian football. Needs our collective thumbs up.”

India are placed in Group A along with USA, Ghana and Colombia and will be playing all their group matches in New Delhi.
