BENGALURU: Jailed AIADMK leader V K Sasikala is likely to be released on parole from the Parappana Agrahara Prison on Friday, according to a senior officer of the State Prisons Department. He told Express on Thursday that the duration of her parole will be based on the recommendations received from the Tamil Nadu government.

Sasikala’s nephew and ousted party leader TTV Dhinakaran reached Bengaluru on Thursday night to receive her. More than 500 supporters are expected to gather at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison following he release on parole.

Karnataka prison authorities, who have considered Sasikala plea, are waiting for a no objection certificate from the Tamil Nadu police over her security arrangements. A senior officer from the Prisons Department said, “We are waiting for documents produced by Sasikala to be verified. Also, the Tamil Nadu police have to give us an NOC over providing security to her.”

Two days ago, Sasikala had applied for 15-day parole to meet her ailing husband, who underwent kidney and liver transplant.
