Work order for the memorial of Dr B R Ambedkar at Indu Mills will be issued by November 15, 2017. The decision was taken at meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) office at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai on Friday.

The state government has also got the land title transferred in the name of Maharashtra. The 12.5 acre plot was under the National Textile Mills. The memorial design and plans have already been approved. In a meeting that lasted for three hours, Fadnavis reviewed all infrastructure projects related to Mumbai and its extended suburbs, along with bureaucrats of several departments. Among the projects that were discussed and progress reviewed were the Metro, monorail, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, Surya Water Supply Scheme, and Ambedkar Memorial.

Fadnavis directed officials to speed up work. “If there are glitches that come in the way, those should be immediately tackled to ensure that the pace of the projects is not affected,” he said. The International Financial Services Centre’s draft policies were also discussed at the meeting. Among the regional plans reviewed was the Kalyan-Dombivali, Bhiwandi and Wadala master plans.

The chief minister also asked officials to ensure the integrated ticketing system was ready by the end of the year.
He handed over land to Midea, a company dealing in home appliances and air conditioners, at Supa Industrial Park, Ahmednagar. The project cost is Rs 700 crore and is expected to generate 1,300.
