Humane face of RPF helps build unit’s image
Soumitra Bose | tnn | Oct 6, 2017, 16:38 ISTNagpur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Western Railways, have embarked upon a new measure to build it's image and bring positivity in approach through humanitarian works within it's jurisdictions including Nagpur and Ajni railway stations.
The unit, headed by senior divisional security commissioner Jyoti Kumar Satija, has been now propelled by the theme to extend helping hands to the needy. The security forces have started now going extra mile to bring differences in the way they functioned.
Last week, RPF sub-inspector Hotee Lal Meena had gifted a new cycle to a girl whose two-wheeler was stolen when she had come to meet her mother at the railway platform. On the 'Dharmachakra Pravartan din', four RPF jawans ensured a Buddhist devotee reached hospital in a private ambulance after he was spotted with a crippling injury on his leg.
Satija said that RPF jawans had last week ensured a train was halted before it chugged out of the platform to save the life of a senior citizen woman who had nearly fallen off the door of a coach.
"There have been several instances in the last couple of months when RPF had actually managed to save lives, reunite lost children with family, returned stolen or lost materials or valuables and even helped with tickets for travelling to deserving but penniless people," said Satija.
"All we did was motivated the forces to take up positive works and spread good will. The jawans or officers who had been engaged in good or such humanitarian work were also promptly rewarded with some kind of incentives that would boost their morale," he said.
