People were treated to a global concoction of music by 200 artistes from across the world, who performed alongside Grammy Award winning Bengalurean Ricky Kej at a music concert on Friday. The event was hosted as a curtain raiser to mark the diamond jubilee celebrations of Vidhana Soudha on Friday.
The incessant rain did not deter people from turning out in huge numbers to enjoy the concert. The concert began on a divine note with Grammy Award winning monks of Sherbaling chanting a prayer for global peace.
Kej left the audience mesmerised with his popular numbers which included ‘Jai He Kannada Thaye’, a tribute to Karnataka. The audience sang along as singers B Jayashree and M D Pallavi alongside music director Charan Raj inspired people to be the change to make a change by singing ‘Badalagavadu Samaja Nee Badalavade, Sariyagalu Samaja Nee Sareeyadare’ that had the crowds singing along.
The visuals of nature and conservation that were played in the background added to mood rendered by the Grammy Award winning musicians who collaborated with Kej to create awareness on the perils of climate change.
Flautist Vani Jayashree weaved divinity through the notes she played on the flute that added to musical extravaganza rendered by the musicians.
The concert also marked the beginning of the RoundGlass Samsara Festival 2017 on Friday and Saturday that includes an environmental summit with participation of delegates and speakers from across the world.
A choir of talented students from Greenwood High also added to the musical experience.
“It was my childhood dream to perform on the premises of Vidhana Soudha, a magnificent piece of art that is reflective of Bengaluru’s identity. It is an honour to collaborate and perform alongside such incredible musicians from across the world for environmental consciousness,” said Kej, who is also the president of RoundGlass Samsara Festival.
