GURUGRAM: Parents of a 13-year-old girl filed a complaint at Sector 50 police station on Thursday after they discovered a fake Facebook profile of their daughter.

The parents alleged that along with 'stolen' pictures, many objectionable photos and videos have also been uploaded on the fake profile of their daughter, police said.

In her complaint, the girl's mother said the bogus profile was created around 12 days ago. However, the girl's parents approached the police only on Thursday.

According to the parents, the girl found out about her bogus account on Facebook, and told them about it. She had never created a Facebook profile for herself.

An FIR has been registered against unidentified persons under sections 66C (identity theft) of the Information Technology Act and 419 (cheating by impersonation) of the IPC.

"The case has been transferred to the cyber crime unit for further investigation," said inspector Surender Singh, SHO, Sector 50 police station.
