Heavy rains returned to Mumbai, with thunderstorms being witnessed across various parts of the city.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials have said that such thundershowers are expected to continue over the weekend.
"There is a system in the Arabian sea as well as the Bay of Bengal which is bringing in these showers. However this is a normal occurrence during the withdrawal phase, "said Ajaykumar, scientist at IMD Mumbai.
On Wednesday, the city recorded maximum temperature of 35.8 degrees Celsius, which was higher than last year's maximum October temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius.
"Mumbai is also expected to witness a few spells of light to moderate rain from October 7 onward. The rainfall intensity may increase on October 9 and 10. During that time, intense showers for short duration are expected over many parts," predicted Skymet Weather.
In 2016, the withdrawal of monsoons was announced on October 14. According to the weather department, the monsoon has not yet bid adieu to the city.
