69 stocks hit fresh 52-week highs while 28 stocks hit 52-week lows on NSE.
NEW DELHI: Stock markets closed in the positive territory on Friday. Equity benchmark Nifty50 closed 91 points up at 9,980, while Sensex settled at 31,814, 222 points higher.

In the Nifty50 index, GAIL (India), with a gain of 6 per cent, stood as the top gainer on Friday. It was followed by, Tata Steel, Hindalco, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation and Vedanta.

Bharti Infratel, Hero MotoCorp, HDFC, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and Power Grid Corporation of India settled as the top losers.

At the sectoral front, Nifty Metal jumped over 3 per cent. Tata Steel, Hindustan Copper, Hindalco, SAIL and JSW Steel surged up to 5 per cent.

APL Apollo Tubes and MOIL were the two components of the Nifty Metal index that closed in the red on Friday.

Nifty PSU Bank index gained over 2 per cent today due to gains in Punjab National Bank, Union Bank, IDBI Bank, State Bank of India and Allahabad Bank, each advancing over 2 per cent.

All sectoral indices closed in the green on NSE on Friday.

In total, 69 stocks, including India Glycols, GAIL (India), Shoppers Stop, TVS Electronics, JHS Svendgaard, Gufic BioSci, Ramky Infra, Visaka Ind, Kamat Hotels, Cinevista Ltd, Jamna Auto, California Soft, Goa Carbons, Damodar Ind, HEG Ltd, JM Financial, Sanghi Ind and Jubilant Foodworks hit fresh 52-week highs on Friday.

On the contrary, 28 stocks such as SAB Events & Governance Now Media, Sri Adhikari, TV Vision, Adhunik Industries, Gammon Infra, Optiemus Infra, Kanani Inds, Tera Software, JMT Auto, Nagarjuna Oil, Sujana Universal, Allied Digital, Shilpi Cable Tec and Reliance Home Finance touched their new 52-week lows, defying the prevailing bullish market sentiment.
