Admn to provide online market for maize growers

NABARANGPUR:A ‘Sachetana Rath’ was flagged off from the the Regulated Market Committee (RMC) premises here on Wednesday to create awareness on enrolment of maize cultivators and e-trading facility for the crop.

Earlier in the day, the district administration organised an awareness  meeting-cum-workshop at Mission Shakti conference hall here for maize cultivators in the district. Besides farmers, the event was attended by members of the purchasing agencies, agriculture officials and representatives of the panchayats in the district. The meeting was presided over by Collector Rashmita Panda.

Inaugurating the event, Panda said purchase centres for maize would be set up by RMC at different locations for online trading of the crop. “ There is a need to raise awareness among the maize cultivators in rural areas. Officials concerned will interact with the farmers and inform them about the e-trading facility,” she added.

Director of State Agriculture Marketing, Premananda Khunti, highlighted the details of the e-trading facilities for the crop at the event. “Things have been arranged to provide a good price for the maize cultivators of the district. The sale amount will be credited directly to the bank account of the cultivator,” Khunti said.Nabarangpur district produces highest quantity of maize in the State.
