Bhopal: People opposing the construction of slaughterhouse in Adampur Chhawani area vent their ire on an MLA and BMC corporators, specially the women. On Tuesday night, the miscreants targeted the houses these public representatives and smeared black ink on their walls. The women corporators, when they woke up on Wednesday morning, to their shock found their walls blackened and some foul words written on them.
Let alone the corporators, miscreants even targeted house of BJP MLA Surendra Nath Singh, located behind Anand Vihar School at 74-bungalow area. The miscreants sprayed black ink on the walls of Singh’s house. Singh was supposedly targeted because he is the current district president of BJP.
The house of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporators including Rashmi Diwedi, Seema Yadav and Archana Parmar were targeted by the miscreants, who could possibly be supporters of the group opposing the coming up of slaughterhouse at Adampur Chhawani area. Even a car of 2003 model was targeted by the miscreants, who might have mistaken it to be of a corporator. The security at Mayor’s bungalow and Chairman’s bungalow were beefed up in view of the protest following the municipal council’s decision to shift the slaughterhouse to new location. The proposal of slaughterhouse was passed with majority by the BJP corporators on Tuesday. .
Archana Parmar when contacted said that the miscreants targeted her house when the family members were fast asleep. She maintained that the shifting of slaughterhouse was necessary for maintaining cleanliness in the city. Terming the act as a symbol of cowardice, Rashmi Diwedi said there is nothing wrong in shifting the slaughterhouse from its current location. Seema Yadav could not be contacted on phone as she said she was busy in a court proceeding.
Meanwhile, MLA Surendra Nath Singh when contacted said that the decision to shift the slaughterhouse was necessary in order to maintain cleanliness in the city. What is wrong in shifting the slaughterhouses from the city to outskirts, he said adding that the BJP is against cow slaughter and not against any other animal. These cowards came secretly in night and threw black ink. If they had guts, they should have openly done this, said Singh.
Meanwhile, MLA Rameshwar Sharma has written a letter to the NGT demanding a Lok Adalat at the proposed site of the slaughterhouse so that the voice of locals may be heard. Stating that the residents are mostly small farmers or labourers and belong to Hindu community, Sharma in the letter has stated that their views should be taken as well as slaughterhouse is being set up in their area. Questioning the need for shifting the slaughterhouse to another location, the MLA has asked the NGT to find out what the residents of the area feel about the decision.
