YAVATMAL: The district guardian minister Madan Yerawar held a meeting in the GMC on Thursday and took stock of the prevailing situation. He has instructed the GMC administration to keep adequate quantity of medicines required for the pesticide poisoning cases. He has also instructed to ensure the prompt and proper medical care to those admitted in the GMC.
While talking to media, Madan Yerawar said that the farmers and the farm workers are supplied with free protective kits and the agriculture officials are instructed to remain in the villages and supervise the manner in which the pesticides are being sprayed. The transport minister Diwakar Raote also visited the GMC and inspected the arrangements and facilities provided to the patients. Later, Raote said, "Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is very sensitive and positive towards the pesticide hit farmers and farm workers. I have demanded in the recent Cabinet for then State's intervention in the pesticide poisoning cases and urged then Government to declare financial compensation to the deceased. Accordingly, CM has announced Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased."
Regarding the cotton procurement centres, he said the centres would open before Diwali even if the inflow of cotton is minimum. Soyabean centres have been opened and the centres for Moong and Tur would be opened in a day or two, he added. He has admitted that the loan waiver process is on a slow pace and it would be seen that the Rs 1.5 lakh loan waiver benefit would be given to the eligible farmers before Diwali.
