WWE returns to India with two shows in Delhi

WWE will return to India after three days of action in January 2016. The tour, in 2017, will see the WWE Raw brand superstars make the trip.

WWE Live will return to India with two shows in New Delhi scheduled for Friday, December 8, and Saturday, December 9. The shows will be held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The two shows have been brought to the country in association with the TV broadcaster Sony Pictures. Last time WWE was in India was in January, 2016.

The shows will feature Indian wrestler Jinder Mahal who goes by the nickname “Modern Day Maharaja” and is the current WWE champion on Smackdown Live. He will be accompanied by The Singh Brothers. In addition, other Superstars to make the trip to the national capital will be Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Braun Strowman, Alexa Bliss, Sasha Banks and more.

Speaking about the WWE’s return, Mahal said, “It is an honor to represent the people of India every time I step into the ring, and it will be a true privilege to perform for them live,” he stated as part of the release.

WWE enjoys a strong following in the country with WWE Sunday Dhamaal a weekly show launched earlier in the year which gave the fans the experience of reliving the action of the week in Hindi. “Following overwhelming demand from our massive and passionate fan base in India, we are excited to bring WWE LIVE back to New Delhi for two shows of spectacular, non-stop, family-friendly entertainment. I know our fans cannot wait to fill the Indira Gandhi Stadium and welcome back their favorite WWE Superstars,” said Sheetesh Srivastava, Vice President and General Manager of WWE India.
