The 28th Annual Senior and 30th Youth Music Conference got under way here on Wednesday.
The event is being conducted by the Karnataka Ganakala Parishat – an esteemed Carnatic classical music organisation run by music veterans for 47 years. The five-day conference is being held at Sri Avadhoota Datta Preetam and Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swami inaugurated the programme.
Musician and KGP president Vid. R.K. Padmanabhan said the event has returned to Mysuru after a gap of 23 years.
Artiste Vidushi T.S. Vasanthamadhavi and Vidwan B.C. Manjunath will be felicitated for their contribution to the field of music on October 8 and there will be a choir singing involving more than 200 musicians who will render the Pancharatna Kirthis of Tyagaraja at 7 a.m. followed by “musical procession” at 9 a.m.
The music conference will also feature seminars, lectures, demonstrations, paper presentations related to music, symposium besides music concerts daily by both veterans and youth musicians. Thursday’s concerts include performance by S. Saketraman from 4.45 p.m. and by D. Balakrishna from 7 p.m. On Friday there will be violin concert featuring Mysuru N. Karthik and Mysuru M. Sumanth from 5 p.m. and vocal concert by R.A. Ramamani at 7.15 p.m.
On Saturday, S. Prashanth Hemmige will present a concert at 4.45 p.m. followed by music by Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swmai at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, concert programmes include vocal by M.R. Sudha at 5 p.m. and Manasa Nayana from 7.15 p.m.
