Coimbatore: A 19-year-old student from Theni, who was studying in a city college, was arrested on the wee hours of Thursday for possession of marijuana.

The accused was identified as Prabahkaran A, second year student of bachelors in business administration (BBA).

Prabhakaran had called his friends to help him to get back to his hostel near Sankara Hospital after his bike's fuel dried up. "Three youth were pushing Prabahkaran's bike on the Coimbatore-Sathyamangalam Highway when they were stopped by us near CMS School in Ganapathy," police said and added "On inquiry we found that Prabhakaran was in possession of marijuana and seized 150g of it from him."

Prabhakaran is said to be a regular user of marijuana, police said. "He had procured the drug while he visited home during the Ayudha Puja holidays," police said.

Police has booked Prabhakaran under Sections 20 and 24 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Later, he was sent to judicial custody. The other two youth were not guilty of any crime.
