As part of a drive to beautify the otherwise dull spaces below flyovers in the city, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Wednesday inaugurated a portion of the space under the Savitri flyover that has now been outfitted with art installations, grass patches and painted walls and grills.
New Delhi Member of Parliament (MP) Meenakshi Lekhi dedicated the artistically beautified space under the PWD flyover.
“This is the 12th PWD flyover where the SDMC has created an aesthetically pleasing space by transforming a neglected area,” the civic body said in a statement.
The space below the flyover has been divided into two parts. The area is also secured with iron grills to keep out stray animals.
‘Family area’
SDMC officials said that the spot will serve as a green space and family area.
“The entire work has been completed for ₹40 lakh,” the civic body added.
Recently, the SDMC beautified spaces below a flyover on Ring Road near Lajpat Nagar.
