NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.93 per cent down at 1,343 around 10:40 am (IST) in Thursday's trade as the index heavyweights Bharti Infratel (down 2.76 per cent), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (down 2.45 per cent), ITI (down 1.53 per cent) Tejas Networks (down 1.32 per cent), GTL Infrastructure (down 0.84 per cent), Idea Cellular (down 0.74 per cent), Reliance Communications (down 0.58 per cent) and Bharti Airtel (down 0.50 per cent) were declining in trade.

However, shares of Himachal Futuristic Communications (up 4.94 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (up 2.47 per cent), Aksh Optifibre (up 2.37 per cent), OnMobile Global (up 1.69 per cent), GTL (up 1.40 per cent) and Tata Communications (up 0.93 per cent) were gaining in trade.

Energy, oil & gas and consumer durables also slipped into the negative zone.

Benchmark indices gave up gains of the early session as a fresh spell of selling emerged in auto, bank and FMCG stocks. Pharma stocks, however, remained bullish.

Equity benchmarks Nifty and Sensex were trading flat at 9,913 and 31,678, respectively.

State Bank of India, Hero MotoCorp, Power Grid, ICICI Bank, Hindustan Unilever and Bharti Airtel were the top losers in the Sensex index, each losing up to 1 per cent.

Mahindra & Mahindra, NTPC, Cipla, Dr Reddy's, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Lupin were the top gainers of Sensex kitty.

On the BSE, 1,379 stocks were advancing whereas 818 stocks were lagging and 77 stocks were appearing unchanged.
